This is a short note to let you know the current status of the LISP
Conference and to act as a gentle reminder if you haven't responded
to my previous letter.
Indeed, Stanford will host the 1980 LISP Conference August 24-27, 1980.
There is a slim chance that campus construction plans could cause
an inconvenience. Therefore, we have also reserved space at the University
of Santa Clara. The Local Arrangements Chairwoman is: Dr. Ruth E. Davis,
EECS Department, University of Santa Clara, Santa Clara Ca. 95053.
The Committee has grow to include John McCarthy, Carl Hewitt, Richard Fateman,
Dan Friedman and Gianfranco Prini. Invitations have been extended to several
other individuals;
the expected committee size is about one dozen.
I am enclosing a tentative schedule of important dates for this conference.
I am also enclosing a list of questions; i hope you will be able to supply
some of the answers.
I am pleased with the progress we have made so far. Of course, timely
action is quite important. The critical element right now is the completion of
the committee. We need a geographically and topically representative committee
of the highest possible quality; for that, we need a response from you before
October 15, 1979.
Clearly the response we wish is "yes"; however if you do not feel that you can
serve, a list of your alternate choices would be most appreciated.
